Merry Christmas

It's December and that means Christmas beer.

Jess has brewed another batch of a delicious christmas pudding in a glass.

That the beer is completely unsuited to the warm weather this time of the year doesn't slow us down one bit.

In this year's brew the spices are a tiny bit more restrained which allows the malt complexity to add more depth to a quite big beer.

Champion Porter

1 Gold, 5 Silvers, 1 Bronze and the Champion Porter Trophy - that's the haul from our trip to this years' Australian International Beer Awards held in Mebourne.

And let me say - wowie kazowie! The brewery team are buzzing from the results and a big hats off to Jess for her Chocolate Porter. It will be some time before you can wipe the grins off our faces.

Our regulars also did well with the Kolsch, Pale & Bock picking up Silver medals and a Bronze went to our Lager.

On a personal note from me, many thanks both to the local homebrewing fraternity for their support, inspiration and assistance as well as to my friends in the craft brewing industry who have never hesitated to offer assistance, and the chance to share a beer, whenever the need arose.

HUB Brew Day

Just has the boys from the Hunter United Brewers (HUB) up for a brew day.

Was a pretty relaxed day and the guys had some fun & ended up walking away with their cubes of AIPA (Centennial and Amarillo earlier in the piece and Citra at flame out).

We will post some pics from the day on our web site.

Seasonals on Tap

Greetings!

It has been a fun filled month. We have ten (count them thats 10!) beers on tap at the moment.

Our regulars are all available and we presently have three seasonals:

Doc's Gose is down to the last keg. This has been a very enjoyable salty, sour coriander flavoured beer that has proved to be very sessionable.

We have sold out of bottles of our regular St. Patrick's Day celebratory Oyster Stout, but have plenty left on tap.

And last, but certainly not least, Jess' Chocolate Porter is a very tasty Brown Porter. In my humble opinion this is a style that is very underrated and our offering is an authentic version of the style - great drinkability, chocolate up front and nutty, toffee flavours in the background - it makes for a great session beer.

Hey Everyone,

Well it's been super busy at Hunter Beer Co. which is great. After getting absolutely hammered with customers over the Summer period we have had to continue the action packed brewing schedule for the Beer Awards coming up in May!

At the moment on tap at Potters Hotel you can find all of our usual line up. The 2 seasonals at the moment on tap are the Gose - a sour, salty, coriander, wheat beer and our Smoked Oyster Stout - come in and taste for yourselves!!
